Symbol

“First the colours”

The first line refers to colours which indicates that colours are going to be used throughout the novel to symbolism lager ideas. The fact that the narrator sees colours before humans shows that colours are more important to see the bigger picture as humans narrow in to individuals while colours can convey an idea.

For example:

Red; refers to death, blood, romance, fire, violence

Red is also on the cover of the book with a book burning which correlates to the second world war time as many books from the Jewish were burnt. This therefore is relating red to a time and situation.

White; pure, innocent

Black; evil, death, time
